A) Do-It-Yourself Wireless Fire, Security, and Medical Alarm System Design and Installation Tips

  1. Control Consoles– Only one required per system. System expansion capability is determined by the number of "points" a control can monitor. An alarm "point" is a zone of  protection covered by a wireless security device or "transmitter". Central station remote monitoring* capability provides that extra level of protection, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, connecting you automatically with local authorities and Police, Fire, or Medical dispatch*.
  2. Remote Keypad– For arming and system status at remote locations from the Control Console. Install one of these by each entry used by your family.  Personalized access code arming and disarming provides you with the highest level of protection. It is recommended a Remote Keypad be installed in the master bedroom for arming and status control at all times.
  3. Perimeter detection – Use window / door transmitters for each point of detection accessible from outside. Each transmitter provides one zone of detection or "point" for a window or a door. Utilize mini-window/door transmitter for a more aesthetic look. The glass break sensor is ideal for pane glass protection in doors or picture windows, providing a single zone line of sight protection for pane glass within an undivided room up to 100 ‘ X 100’.
  4. Motion or area detection– Use motion sensors for your secondary line or interior protection while you are away from your home. Strategic placement of a motion alarm can provide protection for multiple rooms or a “curtain” effect cutting across common area pathways in an zone or area of protection. Interior zones can be bypassed automatically by way of the “stay” arming mode while still providing perimeter protection, allowing you to move freely and safely around your home.
  5. Smoke Alarm Sensor– Wireless smoke alarm sensors are the “watchdogs” of your security system. Providing 24-hour protection; 365 days a year regardless of whether your security alarm is armed or disarmed. A smoke alarm sensor should be installed on every floor of your home. Note that floors that are divided and have multiple common areas will require a smoke detector in each area. As per NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) recommendations, install one smoke detector and co detector in each bedroom.  Central station monitoring can provide you detection and alert even when you are away from home*.
  6. Medical Alert and emergency devicesMedical alert devices provide instantaneous response to any medical emergency automatically without you having to dial the phone. By simply pressing a button on the main Control Console, keypad, handheld remote, wristband or necklace emergency transmitters, you are connected to medical response and dispatch*. Remote speakers placed throughout the house can allow 2-way hands free communication to emergency response personnel* *.
